In an official company photograph, two of the Illinois Central's brand new Alco C636s, #1101 and #1102, are seen loading a coal train somewhere on the Kentucky Division in early 1968. The C636s quickly developed a poor reputation and were stored or leased out unless absolutely needed.

A New York, Susquehanna &amp; Western freight with a leased CSX GP38-2 leading drifts down through Clayville, NY on the NYS&amp;W Utica Branch yesterday. The GP38-2 was brought in to assist with to springtime surge in traffic to the feed mills in Sangerfield, NY.
